Synopsis

Rangga is a Jakmania, fanatic supporter of Persija Jakarta FC. One day, Rangga and his fellow supporters were involved in a brutal brawl, ambushing a bus full of the Vikings, supporter of Persib Bandung FC, their utmost opponent. During the brawl, Rangga saw a Viking girl whose face he could not forget. On the other hand, Desi also noticed Rangga and could not get him off her mind.

Rangga decided to look for Desi in Bandung, regardless the threat to his own safety being in his opponent’s hometown. He searched for Desi with hardly any clue until they met again and fell in love head over heel. They knew it’s a forbidden love they fell into.

Desi’s elder brother, Parman, is a top leader of the Vikings. Parman was furious to find out that Rangga belongs to the Jakmania and deployed his men to spy on his own sister. While Rangga must face being labeled as a traitor by the Jakmania which ruined his business, selling Jakmania merchandise. Despite all the challenges, Rangga and Desi fought for their love over their fanatic and hatred between the two opposing supporter groups.

Edo Borne as Ranggamone Larico

A die hard fans of Persija FC from Jakarta, a man who would die for his team and do anything to defend its glory. He falls in love with a girl from his opposite team, but it still doesn’t change his love to his team. Rangga is trapped beetween his girl and his team.

Some legendaries Indonesian movie star call him as the new Mathias Muchus, another legend from Indonesian cinema. Took part in Chant of Lotus (2007), Edo prove his acting ability in Romeo Juliet by taking one of difficult role he has so far on his acting career.

Desi

Sissy Prescilia as Desi Kasih Purnamasari

Raised in Blue neighbourhood, Desi found herself as hard core fans of Persib FC from Bandung. Wherever her team goes, she goes…but an ambush on a highway near Jakarta and West Java (Bandung is the capital of West Java) has change her life forever.

After her interesting role in Ada Apa Dengan Cinta (2001) Sissy has proved Indonesian movie scheme that she’s one of the best in her generation. It doesn’t matter how hard her role is, Sissy will always give her best to prove her worth.

Suparman

Alex Komang as Suparman

Parman is the oldest son in his family. After the death of his father, Parman raised his 3 sisters and his mom by himself. He also a respected man in Viking, so called for Persib supporters’. He’s 18 years old different with Desi, his youngest sister.

On his debut, Alex Komang received his first Citra Award (Indonesian Film Festival) in 1985. After since, his career goes up like a shooting star, as of today he’s one of Indonesian movie star legend.

Agus

Ramon Y Tungka as Agus Purnomo

His obsession is girls and boozes, but Agus is a loyal friend of Rangga. His mate from childhood and brought up together since then. He joined Rangga to build a t’shirt and merchandise business and believe that football is never more than just a game.

His controversial film Ekskul (2006) gained The Best Picture in Indonesia Film Festival. He himself prove Indonesia cinema scheme as one of the best since then. His main obsession is acting alongside Christian Bale and directed by Sean Penn.

Soleh

Epi Kusnandar as Soleh Solihun

Parman’s best friend, even more than just a friend. They’ve been together for ages and love Persib as every Sundanese (one of the biggest ethnic group in Java) should do. He lose his left hearing after a brutal fight in the border. He believes that love can conquer all things, even a belief to football.

Epy is a well known actor, he’s been acting for many kind of roles from comedy, horror, thriller or even a tear jerkers film. His experienced showed on the set where he always able to interpret his role and proposed it properly to the director.

Debul

Norman Akyuwen as Debul

A hard core supporter of Persija FC, Rangga best friend and been together for the team since ages. His life and blood is for Persija, the team he believes as his true identity and life. Debul will stands wherever Rangga stands, it doesn’t matter his life would be the price.

Norman Akyuwen is one of Indonesia leading actor. He never really has main role on every movie he involved, but nobody ever forget his role anywhere he took part on it. He gives his life totally for acting, so that he always commit to chance his attitude, look and everything he has for his role, doesn’t matter what it takes.

Andibachtiar Yusuf Writer/Director/Producer

His short documentary debut Jakarta Is Mine (2003) received Viewer’s Choice in Regensburg Short Film Week 2004 in Germany. His third short documentary Hardline (2004) was choosen as World Cup 2006 Official element and also brought him to Berlinale and Talent Campus Week in Berlin. The Jak (2007) and The Conductors (2008) were his feature length documentary with various awards and respects across the globe. The Jak was screened in several art house cinema in Europe and accepted as a cultural film. The Conductors is a Special Mention Documentary in Pusan International Film Festival 2008, The Best Documentary in Indonesian Film Festival, The Best Film in Documentary Film Festival. Both were commercially released in cinema across Indonesia.

Romeo Juliet is his first feature length fiction and he also well known in Independent Film scheme in Indonesia.

Andhu Malikulkusno Assistant Director

His works could be easily find in TV station since he has produced many music videos for various musician. Andhu was also an Art Director for Ekspedisi Mahadewa (2005) and Kekasih (2007). Andhu has been working with many production teams in Indonesia. His experience shown on his ability to conduct production at any circumstances.

Swastika Nohara Associate Producer

She was a professional anchor in TV7 (formerly Trans7) before she started her work as producer in various documentary program for international or local TV station. Romeo Juliet is her first feature length fiction production.

Edmond Waworuntu Production Designer

Has been working for various creative projects in Indonesia. His works has been exhibit in many galleries and art house. He took part in some independent production.

Chemonk Faiz Tjotjona Director of Photography

He has been working in the industry since 1993. His works is various, from feature length fiction, shorts, documentaries, TV show to TV series. Chemonk is also the DP for The Conductors which has claim him as one of the best Man Behind The Camera in Indonesia.

Romeo Juliet is his first feature length fiction.

Darwin Nugraha Editor

Part of team on the monumental documentary The Conductors, Darwin is also a short filmmaker who has many shorts works. Has been edited movie since 1999, when he was very young, he was invited for Boemboe Forum (a forum for young filmmaker) in 2005.

Romeo Juliet is first feature length fiction.

Ananda Sukarlan Music Director

An acclaimed pianist, one of the best Indonesian musician. His concert is easily find across Europe and South America. Ananda is so called a wonder boy from a classical music scheme. His works is widely recognised by music lovers across the globe.

Romeo Juliet is his first musical compositing experience for a feature length movie.

Shaf Dhault Syah Sound Recordist

Not only experience, Dhault also one of the most talented soundman in the industry. His works has been spread out for more than 10 in a year, shown how famous he is in the industry.

Jakmania

The Jakmania was established on 19 December 1997, based in then Menteng football stadium in central Jakarta. Diza Rasyid Ali, then manager of Persija FC initiated this supporter organization for Persija and fully supported by then Jakarta Governor, Sutiyoso. At the beginning The Jakmania had only 100 members and 40 caretakers, with Gugun Gondrong as their leader. They started bearing orange color and using the finger formed J letter as their symbol until today.

The next leader was Ferry Indrasjarief, who vigorously led The Jakmania for three terms since 1999 until 2005. Under his inspiring leadership The Jakmania grew tremendously with 7200 members, so he established Regional Leaders in various regions of Jakarta. Now The Jakmania have more than 30.000 members spread in 50 regions across Jakarta. Hanandiyo Ismayani was elected leader in 2005 and in charge until today. (www.jakmania.org)

Viking

The establishment of Viking Persib Club started in the period of 1985 until 1995 when Persib Bandung football club triumphed for three times winning the President cup. Several founders namely Ayi Beutik, Heru Joko, Dodi Rokhdian, Hendra Bule, and Aris Primat formed the fans club in 17 July 1993. The Vikers are based in Bandung, the capital city of West Java, Indonesia with loyal fans spread across the province.

The name VIKING was chosen to imply the characters of a tribe in the Nordic which is known as brave, though, and resilient. Bearing the color of blue, the slogan, ‘PERSIB THE CONQUEROR’ is clearly written on their atributes. Aremania

Aremania, supporter community of Arema Malang football club claimed themselves as the pioneer of football club supporters in Indonesia. Bearing the color of blue, Aremania is a self-funded and independent body not structurally connected with Arema Malang FC. Aremania is based in the town of Malang in East Java, Indonesia with loyal fans spread scross Malang region.

Previously, Arema Malang supporters were known as Arema Fans Club or AFC, led by Lucky Acub Zainal. AFC was founded to overcome a series of brawl among supporters at that time. AFC was dismissed in 1994 for several reasons, but the supporter community in various regions across Malang was still alive. They are now known as Aremania.

Through many events Aremania then improved their image as peaceful, loyal and attractive supporters. Aremania was awarded as the Best Supporters in Copa Indonesia in 2006. (Zoelfikar Aleksandri www.ongisnade.net )
