The Jak is bannedNovember, 02 2007
There are no political issues in The Jak, either no religion issues or other related matters which can let the authorities banned a film. The Jak is only a story about a football supporters in Jakarta, but the happen to be a big enemy of Bandung’s team, Persib. And the story goes, The Jak is banned in Bandung after some hooligans came to the cinema and threat Blitz “We’re going to bring more people if you keep on screen it,”
Only 2 days after, the cinema management tried to invite the fellow Bandung’s supporters, The Viking, but nobody came. So, Bogalakon Pictures and the cinema network whom we believe as the future of Indonesian Independent cinema decided to stop The Jak from Bandung. Securities are our reason “High risk high cost,” said Andibachtiar Yusuf, the director’s of The Jak to the press.
So, The Jak now is only available in Jakarta’s Blitz, hopefully we’ll strike more places. Probably still Bandung but with smaller scale network.
